وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا ، وَمَيِّتِنَا ، وَشَاهِدِنَا ، وَغَائِبِنَا ، وَلِأُنْثَانَا وَذُكُورِنَا ، مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ، وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتُهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ ، اللَّهُمَّ عَفْوَكَ عَفْوَكَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make this supplication in the funeral prayer: "O Allah, forgive our living, our dead, those of us present, those of us absent, our women and our men. Whomever of us You give life, keep him alive upon Islam, and whomever of us You cause to die, cause him to die upon faith. O Allah, we ask Your pardon, we ask Your pardon."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
