وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ ، كَانَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ ، وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ ، إِنْ كَانَ مُحْسِنًا فَزِدْ فِي إِحْسَانِهِ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مُسِيئًا فَاغْفِرْ لَهُ ، وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ ، وَلَا تَفْتِنَّا بَعْدَهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he offered the funeral prayer, he would recite this supplication in it: "O Allah, this is Your servant and the son of Your servant. He used to bear witness that there is no god but You and that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Your servant and Your Messenger, and You know best about him. If he was a doer of good, increase his good; and if he was a doer of evil, forgive him. Do not deprive us of his reward, and do not put us to trial after him."
