وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَنَّهُ قَالَ : سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تَمُرُّ بِنَا جِنَازَةُ الْكَافِرِ نَقُومُ لَهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ قُومُوا لَهَا ; فَإِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ تَقُومُونَ لَهَا إِنَّمَا تَقُومُونَ إِعْظَامًا لِلَّذِي يَقْبِضُ الْأَرْوَاحَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: "O Messenger of Allah, the funeral of a disbeliever passes by us as well; should we stand up for it too?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. Stand up for it, for you do not stand for that funeral; you stand for the One who takes the souls."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).
