Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4078

Ibrahim al-Nakha'i narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the person who washes a deceased: should he take a bath? He said: "Do you think that your companion (that is, the deceased) was impure, so that you would take a bath? Ablution is sufficient for you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that Ibrahim al-Nakha'i did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
