Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him to Yemen, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out with him. Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was mounted at the time, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was walking beside his mount. He said: "O Mu'adh! It may be that after this year of mine you will not meet me, and you will pass by my grave and my mosque." Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep out of grief at parting from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Mu'adh! Do not weep, for weeping is from Shaytan."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir.
