Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew back a curtain and opened a door; this was during his illness. He saw the people praying behind Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He was pleased at this and said: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty. No prophet has ever died until a man from his ummah has led him in prayer." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to the people and said: "O people! Whoever of you is struck by a calamity after me, let him console himself in the calamity that befalls him with the calamity of losing me, for no calamity will befall my ummah after me like the calamity that will have befallen them in losing me."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Ubaydullah bin Ja'far bin Najih al-Madani, who is da'if (weak).
