Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the time of death drew near for Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyidah Umm Mubashshir bint al-Bara' bin Ma'rur (may Allah be pleased with her) came to him and said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman! If you meet my father, convey my greetings of salam to him." Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Umm Mubashshir! May Allah Almighty forgive you; where will we get the chance for that?" Sayyidah Umm Mubashshir (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman! Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'The souls of the believers will be in the bellies of green birds, hanging from the trees of Paradise'?" Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Yes, indeed." Sayyidah Umm Mubashshir (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Then that is how it will be."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Ibn Ishaq, who is a mudallis (one who practises tadlis). The remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
