Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) say to Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Why is it that since the passing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) I constantly see you with dishevelled hair and covered in dust? Perhaps you have some unease regarding the leadership (that is, the rule) of your cousin?" He said: "I seek refuge with Allah from that! I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'I know a word which, if a person says it when close to death, his soul will feel its comfort until it leaves his body, and that word will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.'" Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I did not ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about that word, nor did he tell me about it, and that is what has been troubling me." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I know that word." Sayyiduna Talhah said: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty! Which word is it?" Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "It is the word which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told his uncle to say." Sayyiduna Talhah said: "You have spoken the truth."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded part of this narration.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
