رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ يُسَمَّ .
It is reported about the elders (mashayikh) that they were present with Ghudayf bin al-Harith when the throes of death began to come over him. He said: "Is there anyone among you who can recite Surah Ya Sin?" The narrator says: Salih bin Shurayh al-Sakuni began to recite Surah Ya Sin, and when he reached the fortieth verse, his (Ghudayf's) soul was taken. The narrator says: The elders used to say: "When Surah Ya Sin is recited near the dying person, he is granted ease in death." The narrator named Safwan says: Isa bin al-Mu'tamir recited it (that is, Surah Ya Sin) beside Ibn Ma'bad.
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator who has not been named.
