عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ مِنْ عَمَلِ يَوْمٍ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُخْتَمُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَإِذَا مَرِضَ الْمُؤْمِنُ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ : يَا رَبَّنَا عَبْدَكَ حَبَسْتَهُ ؟ فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - : اخْتِمُوا لَهُ عَلَى مِثْلِ عَمَلِهِ حَتَّى يَبْرَأَ أَوْ يَمُوتَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْطَبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ .

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every single deed of each day is sealed. When a believer falls ill, the angels say: 'O our Lord! You have confined Your servant.' The Lord says: 'Seal his deeds (according to his previous routine) until he recovers or dies.'"
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, about whom there is criticism.
