عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لِيَكُونُ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الْمَنْزِلَةُ فَمَا يَبْلُغُهَا بِعَمَلِهِ فَمَا يَزَالُ اللَّهُ يَبْتَلِيهِ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَهَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لَهُ : " يَكُونُ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الْمَنْزِلَةُ الرَّفِيعَةُ " ، ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person has a particular station with Allah Almighty which the man has not been able to reach through his deeds, so Allah Almighty continually puts that person through trials that he dislikes, until that person reaches that station."
Abu Ya'la recorded it. In one of his narrations the words are: "He has a lofty rank with Allah Almighty." Its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
