Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he saw a man who was afflicted with some trial (that is, an illness or the like). He said: "Perhaps you asked your Lord to afflict you with trial quickly (that is, in this very world)?" He said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not ask your Lord for well-being, and why did you not say: 'Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire'?"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Zakariyya al-Ghalabi, whom al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) declared da'if (weak). Ibn Hibban mentioned him in his book al-Thiqat and stated that when he narrates from a trustworthy narrator, he is to be taken into consideration.
