Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 37

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Once I came while the Prophet was sitting among his Companions, among whom was Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). I caught the last part of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) talk; he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Whoever prays four rak'ahs (that is, the sunnah prayers) before Asr, the Fire (of Hell) will not touch him." So I gestured with my hand (here he indicated with his hand) like this, saying: "This is an excellent saying." Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The opening part of this hadith, which you did not get (to hear), is far more excellent." I said: "O son of al-Khattab! Then tell it!" Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah told us: 'Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah will enter Paradise.'"
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and (its chain) contains a narrator, Hajjaj bin Nasr, whom most hadith scholars have declared da'if (weak).
