Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 3663

عَنْ عُثْمَانَ أَنَّهُ تَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - تَوَضَّأَ نَحْوَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ نَحْوَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَا يُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ فِيهِمَا إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ خَلَا قَوْلَهُ : " إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ وُثِّقُوا .
It is reported about Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he performed ablution washing each part three times, then he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution like this ablution of mine, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution like this ablution of mine, then prays two rak'ahs in which he thinks of nothing but good, his past sins are forgiven."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is reported in the "Sahih", except that it does not contain the words: "nothing but good".
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
