Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I do a deed and keep it hidden, then it becomes known, and I feel happy about it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will receive a double reward: the reward for doing it secretly and the reward for doing it openly."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Ahmad bin Asad, whom Ibn Hibban mentioned in the book al-Thiqat; the rest of the narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
