Sayyiduna Qays bin Abi Sa'sa'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he said: "O Messenger of Allah! In how long should I recite (the whole Qur'an)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In fifteen days." He said: "I find in myself the strength for more than that." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In one week." He said: "I find in myself the strength for more than that." The narrator says: He continued reciting in this way for a long time, until, when he grew old and his eyesight weakened, he would recite the whole Qur'an in fifteen days, and he used to say: "Would that I had accepted the first concession granted by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)!"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, and there is criticism concerning him.
