Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 3601

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) report concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked out from a house, and the people were reciting aloud. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one praying is in intimate conversation with his Lord, so let him consider how he is conversing with Him. None of you should recite aloud over another.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Muhammad bin Amr, and there is criticism concerning him because of his poor memory.
