Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer at night, he would say the takbir three times, say 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah) three times, and recite 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah) three times, then he would recite: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-shaytan al-rajim, min hamzihi wa nafkhihi wa shirkihi' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his prodding, his blowing and his association).
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator who is not named.
