عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ يُصَلِّي فَرَآهُ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ لَهُ : اجْلِسْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِصَلَاتِهِمْ فَصْلٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَحْسَنَ ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Abdullah bin Rabah narrated from one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Asr prayer; then a man stood up and began to pray. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him and said to him: Sit down! For the People of the Book were destroyed because there was no separation (fasl) for their prayers. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ibn al-Khattab has spoken well."
