Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: My close friend (peace and blessings be upon him) enjoined upon me the two rak'ahs of Fajr, for in them there is lasting desirability; and he enjoined upon me the two rak'ahs of Duha, for it is the prayer of the righteous (awwabin); and (he enjoined upon me) offering two rak'ahs before Zuhr and two rak'ahs after it, two rak'ahs after Asr, two rak'ahs after Maghrib and two rak'ahs after Isha, and fasting three days of every month. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is equivalent to fasting perpetually"; and that I should not spend the night without having offered the witr. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Abu Hurayrah, offer two rak'ahs in the early part of the day, and I will guarantee for you (what lies) up to its last part." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of it is recorded in the Sahih.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Umar bin Abd al-Jabbar, and he is da'if (weak).
