بَابٌ فِيمَنْ أَحْسَنَ بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِ أَوْ أَسَاءَ .

عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنُؤَاخَذُ بِمَا عَمِلْنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " مَنْ أَحْسَنَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لَمْ يُؤَاخَذْ بِمَا عَمِلَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، وَمَنْ أَسَاءَ مِنْكُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أُخِذَ بِمَا عَمِلَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ أَسِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، وَهُوَ كَذَّابٌ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) states: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Will we be taken to account for the deeds we did in the Era of Ignorance?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does good deeds after accepting Islam will not be taken to account for the deeds he did in the Era of Ignorance; and whoever among you still does evil deeds after accepting Islam will be taken to account for (all) the evil deeds he did in the Era of Ignorance and in the era of Islam."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Asid bin Zayd, and he is a great liar (kadhdhab).
