Urwah bin al-Zubayr said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came out to the people and beat them for praying two rak'ahs after Asr, until he passed by Sayyiduna Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will not abandon these two rak'ahs, for I prayed them with one who is better than you, and he is the Messenger of Allah." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If the people were like you, I would not mind."
Ahmad recorded it, and these are the words of his narration. The narrator Urwah did not hear from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih; al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.
