Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of Eid al-Fitr, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not go out until he had eaten something, but on the day of sacrifice he (peace and blessings be upon him) would not eat anything until he returned, and (after coming back from the prayer) he would eat from the meat of his sacrificial animal.
(Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tirmidhi recorded this narration, but he did not include these words: "he would eat from the meat of his sacrificial animal."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and Ahmad also recorded it; its chain contains Uqbah bin Abdullah al-Rifa'i, who is da'if (weak).
