Book of Faith
بَابٌ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ الْحُبُّ لِلَّهِ وَالْبُغْضُ لِلَّهِ .
Love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah are part of faith

وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِلَّهِ وَأَبْغَضَ لِلَّهِ ، وَأَعْطَى لِلَّهِ وَمَنَعَ لِلَّهِ ; فَقَدِ اسْتَكْمَلَ الْإِيمَانَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ صَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّمِينُ ، ضَعَّفَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُمَا ، وَقَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : مَحَلُّهُ الصِّدْقُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ صَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّمِينُ ، ضَعَّفَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُمَا ، وَقَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : مَحَلُّهُ الصِّدْقُ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever loves someone for the sake of Allah Almighty, hates for the sake of Allah Almighty, gives (something to someone) for the sake of Allah Almighty, and withholds (that is, does not give) for the sake of Allah Almighty, has perfected faith."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Sadaqah bin Abdullah al-Samin, whom Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), Imam Ahmad and others declared da'if (weak), while Imam Abu Hatim said: His position is truthfulness (mahalluhu al-sidq).
