Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2844

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the polytheists entered Makkah, they would say to their idols: "Greetings be upon you, and may you be well." So Allah Almighty revealed to His Prophet: Recite: "All acts of bodily worship are exclusively for Allah Almighty, and all acts of financial worship are exclusively for Allah Almighty."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Fa'id, who is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith).
