وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَقَدْ أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يَنْزِلُ عَلَيَّ بِهِ قُرْآنٌ أَوْ وَحَيٌّ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I was commanded to use the miswak until I thought that Qur'an would be revealed to me about it (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) that revelation would be sent down."
