Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2426

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man stands for prayer, Allah Almighty turns toward him. When that person looks around, Allah Almighty says: 'O son of Adam, toward whom are you looking? Is it someone who is better for you than Me? Stay turned toward Me.' When that person looks around a second time, Allah Almighty says the same again; and when that person looks around a third time, Allah Almighty turns His Face away from him."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains al-Fadl bin Isa al-Raqashi, on whose weakness the hadith scholars are agreed.
