بَابٌ فِي الْإِمَامِ يَذْكُرُ أَنَّهُ مُحْدِثٌ .

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَبَّرَ بِهِمْ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَأَوْمَى إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ، وَرَجَعَ وَرَأَسُهُ يَقْطُرُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ وَإِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا فَنَسِيتُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ لَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ ذَكَرَهُمْ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir for them in the Fajr prayer, then he made a sign to them, then he went away. Then he came back, and drops of water were dripping from his head. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in prayer, then he said: "I am only a human being like you; I was in a state of major impurity (janabah) and I had forgotten (this)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains more than one narrator whom I did not find anyone mentioning.
