It is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bashir al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him): One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading them in prayer, and a woman was passing through the open valley (al-Batha'). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to her to step back, so she went back until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had completed the prayer, and then she passed.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, about whom criticism has been made.
