عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ : أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ حَصِيرًا ؟ قَالَتْ : لَمْ يَكُنْ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

It is reported about Qadi Shurayh that he asked Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) use to offer prayer on a mat (hasir)? For I have heard in the Book of Allah Almighty: "And We have made Hell a hasir for the disbelievers" (and in Arabic the word hasir is used for a mat). Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer prayer on it.
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
