وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ بَنِي سَلَمَةَ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَبِيعُ دُورَنَا وَنَتَحَوَّلُ إِلَيْكَ ، فَإِنَّ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ وَادِيًا ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " اثْبُتُوا فَإِنَّكُمْ أَوْتَادُهَا ، وَمَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَخْطُو إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ خُطْوَةً إِلَّا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهَا أَجْرًا " .
قُلْتُ : لِجَابِرٍ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِغَيْرِ هَذَا السِّيَاقِ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
قُلْتُ : لِجَابِرٍ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِغَيْرِ هَذَا السِّيَاقِ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Banu Salimah said: O Messenger of Allah, should we not sell our houses and move closer to you? For there is a valley between us and you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Stay where you are, for you are its pegs. There is no servant who takes a step towards the prayer except that Allah Almighty records a reward for him for that step. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is also in the Sahih, but without this context.
