Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Ansar said: "How long will the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) keep praying facing these palm branches?" So they collected dinars for him and brought them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: "With this money we will repair the mosque and adorn it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have no wish to turn away from the way of my brother Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him). (It should be) a shelter like the shelter of Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) (that is, a roof made of branches)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Isa bin Sinan, whom Ahmad and others declared da'if (weak), while al-Ijli, Ibn Hibban and, in one report, Ibn Khirash declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
