Abdullah bin Ghabir al-Alhani narrates: Sayyiduna Habis bin Sa'd al-Ta'i (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the mosque in the pre-dawn hours (sahar); he had lived in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He saw some people praying in the front part of the mosque, and he said: "By the Lord of the Ka'bah, these are people who show off! Drive them away; whoever drives them away will have obeyed Allah and His Messenger." So some people went to them (or Sayyiduna Habis bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) went to them) and removed them from there. Then Sayyiduna Habis (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Indeed, the angels pray in the front part of the mosque in the pre-dawn hours."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it; its chain contains Abdullah bin Ghabir al-Alhani, and I have not found anyone who mentioned him.
