Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 18581

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hell said: 'O my Lord, permit me to take a breath, for I fear that I will seize Your creation.' So the Lord permitted it to breathe twice every year. The intensity of the heat is from its scorching heat, and the intensity of the cold is from its cold."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
