Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to call him for the morning prayer. He said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." He came back to him again and perceived that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was unwell. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." He went and gave the adhan, and in the adhan he added these words: "Prayer is better than sleep." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "What are these words you have added to your adhan?" He replied, "I saw that you were feeling heavy, so I wished that you would become refreshed." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go and add it to your adhan, and tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Qusayt; I have not found anyone who mentions him.
