Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Some of the people of La ilaha illallah (there is no god but Allah) will enter Hell because of their sins. The worshippers of al-Lat and al-Uzza will say to them: 'Of what use was your saying La ilaha illallah to you, when you too are with us in Hell?' Allah Almighty will become angry for their sake (that is, for the sinful believers), and He will bring them (out of Hell) and cast them into the River of Life. They will be healed of the effects of their burning just as the moon emerges from its eclipse. Then they will enter Paradise, and the people of Paradise will give them the name 'al-Jahannamiyyun' (the people of Hell)." A man said: "O Sayyiduna Anas! Did you yourself hear this (hadith) from the mouth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever knowingly attributes a lie to me, let him prepare to take his particular seat in Hell.'" (Then Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this (that is, the hadith narrated before it)."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
