Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once we were sitting in the courtyard of the house of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (perhaps meaning outside his house), when he came out to us, his blessed face shining and radiant. Seeing his face, we said: "O Messenger of Allah! May Allah Almighty keep you happy. Seeing the radiance and joy of your face has made us happy too." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril has just come to me and given me the glad tidings that Allah Almighty has granted me intercession." We said: "O Messenger of Allah! Is it specifically for Banu Hashim?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No!" We asked: "Is it specifically for Quraysh?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No!" We asked: "Is it for your Ummah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is for the sinners of my Ummah who are weighed down (with sins)."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Wahid al-Nasri, who is of a later period and narrates from al-Awza'i, whom I do not know; the rest of the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
