وَعَنْ وَهْبٍ السُّوَائِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ إِنْ كَادَتْ لَتَسْبِقُهَا " . أَوْ : " إِنْ كَادَتْ لَتَسْبِقُنِي " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ، وَقَالَ : " لَتَسْبِقُنِي " . فَقَطْ . وَرِجَالُهُمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ أَبِي خَالِدٍ الْوَالِبِيِّ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Wahb al-Suwa'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I and the Hour have been sent like this and this (that is, these two fingers); it almost outstripped it (the narrator is unsure, or perhaps the words are:) it (that is, the Hour) almost outstripped me."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it; however, he (al-Tabarani) has only the words: "It almost outstripped me." The narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abu Khalid al-Walibi, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
