Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Five things are part of faith; whoever has none of them has no faith: submitting to the command of Allah Almighty, being pleased with the decree of Allah Almighty (that is, destiny), entrusting matters to Allah Almighty, relying upon Allah Almighty, and patience at the first shock. A man does not attain the reality of Islam until people are safe from him regarding their lives and wealth." A man submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Which Islam is most excellent?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That of the person from whose tongue and hand the other Muslims are safe. Like the markers of a road, it has certain signs: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah Almighty, establishing prayer, paying zakah, judging according to the Book of Allah, obeying the unlettered Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and greeting the children of Adam with salam when you meet (any of) them."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Sa'id bin Sinan, who is not to be used as evidence.
