Majma al-Zawaid 18182 — Reports on silence and guarding the tongue

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I warn you against idle talk. It is enough for any one of you to speak as much as conveys his need.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains al-Mas'udi, who suffered from mental confusion (ikhtilat).
