Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a man was killed, and a woman weeping over him said: 'Alas, the martyr!' The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Stop! How do you know that he is a martyr? Perhaps he used to speak about things that did not concern him, and to be miserly with things (the spending of which) would have caused him no loss.'"
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains Isam bin Taliq, and he is da'if (weak).
