وَعَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : مَنْ أَحَبَّنَا لِلدُّنْيَا ; فَإِنَّ صَاحِبَ الدُّنْيَا يُحِبُّهُ الْبَرُّ وَالْفَاجِرُ ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّنَا لِلَّهِ كُنَّا نَحْنُ وَهُوَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ - وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى - . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ وُثِّقُوا عَلَى ضَعْفٍ فِي بَعْضِهِمْ .
Sayyiduna Imam Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Whoever loves us for the sake of the world: the worldly person is loved by the righteous and the sinful (people of every kind); and whoever loves us for the sake of Allah Almighty, on the Day of Resurrection we and he will be like these two (fingers)." He said this while pointing with his index finger and middle finger.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy despite the weakness found in some of them.
