عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي جِنَازَةٍ قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشَرِّ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ ؟ الْفَظُّ الْمُسْتَكْبِرُ . أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ ؟ الضَّعِيفُ الْمُسْتَضْعَفُ ذِي الطِّمْرَيْنِ ، لَا يُؤْبَهُ لَهُ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ ، وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at a funeral, and he said: "Shall I not tell you about the worst of Allah's servants? Every harsh and arrogant person. Shall I not tell you about the best of Allah's servants? Every weak person of lowly standing whose clothing is ordinary, who is not paid any attention, but (his state is such that) if he swears an oath by Allah, Allah Almighty fulfils it for him."
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Jabir, who has been declared trustworthy despite his weakness. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
