وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو - لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ - قَالَ : " صَلَاحُ أَوَّلِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بِالزَّهَادَةِ وَالْيَقِينِ ، وَهَلَاكُهَا بِالْبُخْلِ وَالْأَمَلِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عِصْمَةُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ ، وَقَدْ ضَعَّفَهُ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ ، وَوَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports the following as a marfu' hadith. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The soundness of the first part of this Ummah will be through abstinence (zuhd) and certainty, and its destruction will be through miserliness and desires."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Ismah bin al-Mutawakkil, whom more than one scholar declared da'if (weak), while Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
