Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: Some people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who had no acquaintances (there). So one man took one person by the hand, another took two people by the hand, and another took three people by the hand; each man took someone with him according to his means. My brother-in-law took two men by the hand. I took him aside and reproached him, saying: You have taken two men, although you already have only a little (wealth)! He said: We have been granted provision from Allah Almighty. Come, I will show you. I went along, and he showed me some wheat and said: This is what we have. I asked: Where did you get this? He said: I bought it from the caravan that came last evening. Then he showed me a heap of dates and said: These too we have. Then he showed me a jar containing fat and said: This is oil and something to eat with bread. Then the next morning he took the two of them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he had fed both guests and had also anointed them with oil. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: I think your two companions are in good condition. How much food did you give them to eat each day? He replied: Two wajbahs (meals). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Two wajbahs? Why not one?
