وَعَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ : دَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَ : يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ أَكُونَ قَدْ هَلَكْتُ ، إِنِّي مِنْ أَكْثَرِ قُرَيْشٍ مَالًا بِعْتُ أَرْضًا لِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ . فَقَالَتْ : يَا بُنَيَّ ، أَنْفِقْ . فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ ، وَلَهُ طُرُقٌ تَقَدَّمَتْ .
Shaqiq says: Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: O Mother of the Believers! I fear that I will be ruined, for I am the wealthiest of Quraysh; I have sold a piece of my land for forty thousand dinars. Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O my son! Spend (in the way of Allah)! After this the narrator mentioned the full narration.
