Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17821

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " تَعِسَ عَبْدُ الدِّينَارِ وَعَبْدُ الدِّرْهَمِ ، الَّذِي إِنَّمَا هَمُّهُ دِينَارٌ أَوْ دِرْهَمٌ يُصِيبُهُ فَيَأْخُذُهُ " . قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ : أَبُو يَحْيَى التَّيْمِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ruined is the slave of the dinar and the slave of the dirham, whose entire concern is that a dinar or dirham should come his way so that he may take it (by any means)." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is in the Sahih in abridged form.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Isma'il bin Ibrahim Abu Yahya al-Taymi, who is da'if (weak).
