Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1782

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the time of the morning prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the prayer in the darkness, then on the following day he offered it in the light. Then he said: Where is the man who asked? The man said: Here I am. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The time is what lies between yesterday and today (the times of the prayer).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, in whom there is weakness.
