Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17664

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qays al-Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever stands in a position of showing off and fame will remain under the displeasure of Allah Almighty until he sits down."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Iyad, and he is matruk (abandoned).
