Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"By the One in whose hand is my soul, Allah Almighty will admit into Paradise even the person who is sinful in the matter of his religion and foolish in the matter of his livelihood. By the One in whose hand is my soul, into Paradise will also enter the one whom the Fire has burnt because of his sins. By the One in whose hand is my soul, on the Day of Resurrection Allah Almighty will grant such forgiveness that even Iblis will crane his neck, hoping that perhaps he too may receive that forgiveness."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and in it he recorded these additional words:
"By the One in whose hand is my soul, on the Day of Resurrection Allah Almighty will forgive with such forgiveness that the thought of it has never even occurred to the heart of any human being."
In the chain of al-Kabir there is a narrator, Sa'd bin Talib Abu Ghaylan, whom Abu Zur'ah and Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), but there is weakness in him; the rest of the narrators of al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy).
